Workshops

Rapid Microbiology: A Workshop for the Food Industry | May 12-14, 2025 | REGISTER

Developed with support from Neogen, one of the foremost providers of rapid methods for the food, beverage and agriculture industries, this highly interactive hands-on workshop combines concepts with real-world applications. Participants will learn best practices in food microbiology testing including sample preparation and investigatory methods. In addition, you will have the opportunity to network and share best practices with other food safety professionals.

This workshop provides an opportunity to review current best practices in sampling plans, sample preparation, quality indicator testing, pathogen testing, metagenomics and data management and utilization. Groups will work together to solve industry case studies involving quality indicator microorganism and pathogen testing program improvement or development. In the laboratory, participants will focus on running traditional and rapid quality indicator and pathogen test methods with a food from a category of their choosing. They will also learn basic microbiological investigatory techniques to help with root cause analyses in the laboratory.
